Biographie de Mitch And The Buccanons

The story of Mitch and the Buccanons begins with the Buccanon Brothers, Nicky and Sammy at their family farm in South Dakota in the US of A.

Nicky and Sammy Buccanon were born and raised in South Dakota. Their origins are clouded in mystery but one tale is fairly well known about them, having been published in the Town Newspaper, The Daily Turnip. The Buccanon family had, until one fateful day, been of the ordinary church going sort. Their Father, a wood whittling farmer with a love of bloodhounds and moonshine, was slowly becoming unhinged. Their mother, a slightly flaky hippie, had been lacing his morning grits with magic mushrooms. It was a time bomb waiting to happen. One day, when the family was out in the fields to harvest their corn, Sammy was still little and was being carried in his mother’s arms. She placed him up to ride beside his father in the harvester, but his erratic driving caused by mushrooms caused little Sammy to fall into the blades. Poor Sammy was seriously injured that day, loosing his voice, his hearing and his right eye. The mothers cooking methods where soon uncovered and she was remanded to a Secure Mental Health Facility for treatment.

The boys lost their parents and their ability to trust authority. They moved into an old barn on an abandoned farm. Nicky was Sammy’s only connection to the real world and the past and they became extremely close. In that old barn they discovered music (and eventually how hanging around old pesticides could cause permanent damage to growing minds). Nicky was playing with his old grandpa’s guitar and Sammy started to drum on whatever he could find and loudly so he could feel the rhythm.

Mitch and the Buccanons was born as a rock band in the early nineties after Nicky Buccanon met up Mitch Schreckenheimmer in a strip club downtown Rapid City. The legend has it that they met while fighting over the same girl. In spite of their vastly different backgrounds, they soon saw that they had a lot in common and so they decided share the cost of the stripper. The legend has it that the whore was mythical in her splendour and offered the two new friends one of the best rides ever!

Mitch Schreckenheimmer is an ex-east German citizen from Leipzig. Unable to keep himself out of trouble with the Stasi because of his love of self made cowboy clothes, he soon saw that his artistic vision would not allow him to stay in his homeland. And so he left everything behind and tying himself to the bottom of a goat, snuck across the border. Mitch found freedom and the American dream in Rapid City, South Dakota where he was worked the land with redneck farmers.

On that day at the whore house, when they found the singer they were missing, things were finally complete for the musically gifted brothers. That was 17 year ago and these guys are still playing together and bringing their mid-western Garage sound all across Northern America! They’ve played with the greatest bands in rock history like Doug Mitchell and the Scuba Diving Reptiles, O.D., Country Boys No More, Death in the Cemetery, The Toyota’s and many others.

If you like your music noisy, scungy and slightly deranged, Mitch and the Buccanons is THE band you need at your venue!
